In 2026, I co-created and co-hosted THAT DAY, a limited-season podcast where midlife Australian women shared the day everything changed, and what came after.  Some stories will shock you. Others might make you cry. All of them reveal the courage it takes to start again.

As a former coroner, I spent twelve years sitting with the worst days of people's lives. I know, more intimately than most, that none of us are promised tomorrow and that a single day can split a life into before and after. THAT DAY was born from that knowing: a space for women to tell the truth about their turning points, without polish, without performance.

Episode One is my own story. The day I walked away from the Coroners Court, and from the version of success I'd spent twenty-five years building.

I'm extraordinarily proud of this season, and endlessly grateful to the women who trusted us with their stories.

Everyone has a day they never forget

THAT DAY Podcast

The Episodes

Why would anyone walk away from a role defined by power, prestige, and purpose?

Until October 2023, I  was Victoria's Deputy State Coroner. I was my dream job. High pressure, high profile, deeply purposeful from the outside. But on the inside, my soul was screaming. This is my story of walking away from everything I thought defined me, and figuring out who I am becoming.

Episode 1 - The Day Jac Hawkins Quit Being a Coroner

When does silence stop being an option?

A national tragedy collided with a trauma carried for decades, and a decision was made that risked everything and reclaimed a voice that was once silenced. A story about rage, resilience, and standing up.

Episode 2- The Day Kylie Orr Made a Report to Police

What happens when the thing you feared most comes true?

A police car in the driveway, and life as Kylie knew it unravelled. What followed was rock bottom and the slow, courageous rebuild of an identity beyond 'wife' and 'mum'.

Episode 3- The Day Kylie Eklund-Denman Lost Her Husband

What happens when the person who blocks your dreams accidentally launches your career?

Told she wasn't qualified enough, true-crime author Vikki Petraitis expanded instead of shrinking — a PhD, an award-winning novel, and a TV adaptation later, her value was never up for debate.

Episode 4- The Day Vikki Petraitis Was Called Into The
Boss's Office

What happens when the year you've been waiting for becomes the one that tests you most?

A fresh start shattered within days by a breast cancer diagnosis. This is not a story of pink ribbons — it's about grief, determination, and starting again when you thought the hard part was behind you.

Episode 5 - The Day Jodie North Got The Text

What happens when a test to prove someone wrong changes your life?

At 22, a GP appointment booked to shut down workplace jokes delivered an unthinkable diagnosis. A story about living with vulnerability inside a body that demands constant attention.

Episode 6 - The Day Anne Freeman Began Life Support

What happens when your entire future is put on hold before it's begun?

Newly married and trying to start a family, Casey felt a lump on an ordinary morning. A story about fear, resilience, and the strange way life gives back what you thought you'd lost — after changing you completely.

Episode 7 - The Day Casey Nott Found a Lump

What happens when the career you built becomes the thing slowly breaking you?

Twenty years of corporate success that looked good on paper — and the day Tennille chose a life that actually felt good to live.

Episode 8 - The Day Tennille Gould Left a Toxic Workplace

What happens when life blindsides you just as you think you've got it steady?

A breast cancer diagnosis stopped everything — and became the beginning of courage, community, and quiet transformation.

Episode 9 - The Day Chrissie Bellbrae Put Her Health First

What happens when the plan falls apart and all you have left is instinct?

Solo in Athens, in what she believed was a taxi, Mary's intuition became the difference between danger and escape — a story she carried silently for years.

Episode 10 - The Day Mary Howley Trusted Her Intuition

What happens when the life you pictured is not the life you are living?

On her 18th birthday she survived a near death experience. From that moment, everything felt different — and over the years that followed, eventually meeting the man who would become her husband, and her dream of motherhood.

Episode 11 - The Day Caroline Hales Surrendered
