This is one of those books that feels less like self-help and more like an invitation to wake up to yourself.
I’ve been following @the.holistic.psychologist for quite some time now, and her work continues to deeply resonate with me. There’s something incredibly empowering about the way Dr Nicole LePera explains human behaviour, trauma, healing and self-awareness in a way that feels accessible, compassionate and honest.
How To Do The Work explores the patterns we unconsciously carry from childhood into adulthood; our coping mechanisms, emotional triggers, limiting beliefs and nervous system responses. It challenges the idea that healing only happens in therapy rooms and instead reminds us that transformation occurs through daily awareness, conscious choices and radical self-responsibility.
What I appreciated most was her holistic approach. She doesn’t just talk about the mind. She talks about the body, the nervous system, habits, boundaries, relationships and the importance of reconnecting with yourself as a whole human being.
As someone deeply interested in transformation, mindset work, NLP, meditation and personal growth, so much of this book aligned with what I’ve experienced both personally and through coaching others. Healing is not about becoming someone new. It’s about unlearning who you had to become to survive.
At times, this book feels confronting because it asks you to look honestly at yourself and your patterns. But that’s also where its power lies.
If you’re on a journey of self-awareness, healing, personal growth or trying to understand why you keep repeating the same cycles in life and relationships, I highly recommend this book. A thought-provoking and empowering read.
